I’m not sure if there’s anything writers like doing as much as talking about writing. Maybe drinking is a close second. But talking about the act of writing, and soliloquizing about the creative mind is one of our favorite things. We get to sound all smart, and use words like “dichotomy” and “pacing” in out-loud conversation. Talking about writing is the best because actually writing something good is really hard.
Which is why here at the home office we are so happy to offer up our content this month. In this issue, we’re not going to talk about intuition and inspiration and all of the happy little flowery crap that writers like to throw around when they’re slacking off. No, in this issue NitWitty is going to get into the nitty gritty process of writing itself. We’re going to talk about forming and making use of a writing group. What to look for when you’re editing a piece, and how to get yourself past writer’s block like a real grownup. Plus, we’re doing something even stranger than normal; we’re going to write fiction and make all the drafts (and edits) public. Even though as writers, the thought of letting our first, odious, drafts out into the world gives us the night sweats, we think it’s important to show how the process works.
